A Cause for Tea is now offering a series of exploratory and enrichment courses featuring instruction in the creative arts that frame the special occasions of our lives. These courses are designed to provide experiences that provide informative instruction that will develop skills, reveal talents, and engage the senses in an atmosphere of beauty, fun, and knowledge.

Mahjong
Join us for a gathering of tea , sweet company and Mahjong! Open play begining Tuesday, July 7th - August 25th 2026. Beginning at 2:00 and ending at 4:30 pm.
Come enjoy the beauty of the season in our beautiful teahouse as we play together and share in good company.
Whether you are a seasoned player or just learning, all are welcome for a fun and relaxing time together. You are encouraged to enjoy lunch at the Tea House before the class begins.

Gathered Blooms in the Garden
Join Ricky Hannah for a delightful morning in the Tea Shed Garden, where flowers, tea, and creating a beautiful gathered floral arrangement in a classic blue-and- white chinoiserie vase using fresh seasonal blooms. Along the way, you’ll learn simple floral design techniques while enjoying the peaceful beauty of the garden. Whether you’re an experienced flower enthusiast or simply looking for a relaxing morning with friends, this special gathering is the perfect way to celebrate to celebrate the beauty of the season.

Needlepoint 101
Curious about needlepoint? This beginner-friendly class is the perfect place to start. Students will learn the fundamentals of needlepoint while stitching an adorable Christmas ornament. Your registration includes a hand-painted canvas, all threads and supplies, and guided instruction to help you build confidence from your very first stitch. You’ll leave with the skills to continue your needlepoint journey—and a festive project well underway.
NOTE: You will have the option of selecting 1 of 2 Design Options the day of the class
A Specialty Tea and Water will be provided
Meet Your Instructor
Jennifer Penegar is the owner of The Salty Stitchery Studio, a coastal needlepoint finishing studio specializing in professional finishing, education, and creative community. With over 20 years of needlepoint experience, 20 years as a professional photographer, and more than a decade as an educator, Jennifer combines technical precision with a passion for teaching.
Inspired by the South Carolina coast, she loves helping stitchers build confidence, develop new skills, and create heirloom-quality pieces they’ll treasure for years to come. Through collaborations with local needlepoint shops and community partners, Jennifer is dedicated to making needlepoint approachable, welcoming, and fun for stitchers of every experience level.

Session 1 (9:30am-12:30pm) Fundamentals of Needlepoint Class
Optional Boxed Lunch Break (12:30-1:30) (Additional Charge for Boxed Lunches)
Session 2 (1:30pm-4:00pm) Application of what you have learned while working on your own project with guidance from your instructor.
